Register for the FCPA's Seminar!

This will be a FREE seminar on Thursday, September 22 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Polk County Roads and Drainage Annex in Winter Haven, Florida.  All participants will receive three Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) towards their Florida P.E. license.  For each attendee, the FCPA will donate $20 to the University of South Florida (USF) American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student chapter.

Seminar at a Glance

This seminar will assist engineers, inspectors, and storm drainage professionals in the design, specification, construction, and inspection of storm pipe systems.  A resilient storm drainage system is dependent on the pipe material attributes and behavior to external impacts, proper installation, inspection of key elements, and clearly communicated specifications.  Attention is on specific interests and goals of the individuals.  

Discussion topics will include:

  • Concrete pipe manufacturing facility "virtual tour."
  • Your most important installation parameters.
  • Soils, compaction, and embedment installation.
  • Rigid concrete pipe and flexible plastic pipe systems explained.
  • Trench details that clearly communicate.
  • Groundwater impacts during construction and in-service.
  • Soil migration and loss of support.
  • Pipe-structure connections: the weakest link.
  • Fire & flammability impacts on buried pipe systems: case studies.
  • Evacuation routes and critical buried infrastructure.
